Karl graduated from UC Santa Cruz in 2022 where he studied bioengineering, bioinformatics, and economics and he helped design and guide a CRISPR-Cas 13 based project. In addition to sailing on the UCSC sailing team all up and down the state, some of his passions outside academia include surfing, freediving, mountain biking, and skiing.
